The 10 Best Places to Watch the Sunset in Ibiza

The White Island offers the most beautiful sunsets in Europe, and arguably the world. When the sun goes down visitors gather at chill-out cafes, beaches and restaurants on the West side of the coast to contemplate the astonishing vibrance of the orange and red hues besetting the shore.

Here’s our list of the Top 10 spots in Ibiza to watch this phenomenon…and to take incredible Instagram pics that’ll make your friends jealous.

1. CAFÉ DEL MAR, chill out sunset

Since its opening in 1980 Café Del Mar has been Ibiza’s most famous sunset viewing venue. Enjoy the pre-parties of the best deejays and see the fire breathers and jugglers without leaving your chair. Let’s be honest though, you’ll probably be sitting on a rock.

Contemplate the setting sun as some of the world’s best DJs spin the 1s and 2s. Pete Tong, David Guetta, Frankie Knuckles, Roger Sanchez, Groove Armada have all played here.

3. BOAT PARTY, see the sun set from a catamaran

Sail on a catamaran across the bay of San Antonio to enjoy the twilight. At the promenade you can find all the information about your trip. Don’t forget to pick up supplies before sailing!

4. CALA BENIRRAS, hippie essence

One of the most famous beaches in Ibiza, the natural environment is surrounded by pine trees, golden sand, crystal clear water and of course, a spectacular sunset. It radiates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. It’s one of the few places where you can relive the essence of the old hippie parties of the 60’s.

5. KIOSK BEACH BAR, drinks on the promenade

Casual, cozy and always busy. This beach bar is located on the promenade of San Antonio. Have a drink in its terrace while contemplating how the waters change colour as the sun dips into the sea. The atmosphere is always fun and it’s the perfect place to start the night out. Take a front row seat and enjoy the cocktails. The rest of the evening is accompanied by deejay sessions.

6. ES VEDRA ISLAND, eclipse behind the big rock

Es Vedra is a magical and highly magnetic rock. The eclipse of the red sun hiding behind this huge rock is apocalyptic and surreal. ‘Nuff said.

7. KUMHARAS, the most ethnic of sunsets

A quiet place, illuminated by candlelight, to relax and enjoy peaceful ethnic music until the sun goes down. Shows by acrobats and fire dancers entertain you at night.

8. OCEAN BEACH, pool party

Ocean Beach is one of the coolest beach bars on the seaside promenade of San Antonio. The pool, the restaurant and the bar are modern and luxurious. All the action is focused around the 600m swimming pool. Enjoy the setting sun from a day bed in the middle of the pool or dance to the day’s top tunes.

9. PONDS SES SALINES, apocalyptic twilight

Located in San Jordi, the park consists of salt ponds, endemic plants and animal communities. When the sun goes down its white mountains of salt spectacularly reflect the sun.

10. PLAYAS DE COMTE, twilight reflected between islands

The scenery of the sunset hiding behind small islands s’Illa d’es Bosc and S’Espartà is stunning. From Cala Comte you can enjoy the moment with a crowd at the beach bar Sunset Ashram, or more quietly on the cliffs of the pier.
