San Antonio vs Playa d’en Bossa – Where should you stay?

It’s well known the there’s two parts of the island that are popular bases, for those seeking a more lively atmosphere.

Places that are within easy reach of a number of bars, clubs and restaurants. Plus direct transport links.

But with each approaching season we see a number of posts from people asking where is better for them. San Antonio or Playa d’en Bossa?

Both offering a different vibe, with an equally as good experience.

Many people want the best of both worlds don’t they?

The epic nightlife on their doorstep, but a quiet place to rest their weary heads.

Where as others opt for a 24/7 party vibe throughout their stay.

So, according to your style, taste, and what you’re looking for from your location, here’s our input.

San Antonio

BUDGET – HIGH

San Antonio has a lot more to it than meets the eye.

It’s a wonderful town that provides visitors with a wealth of activities and experiences during their stay.

We highly recommend TRS for accommodation, if you’re after a more luxurious escape. It’s the only 5 star, all-inclusive adults hotel on the island. Located in Cala Gracio, this stunning spot is far enough away from the towns bustling nightlife, but close enough if you fancy heading out and about of an evening. It also boasts breathtaking views from their rooftop bar.

Feel pampered, relaxed and rejuvenated. That’s what it’s all about, right?

You also have other popular choices such as OKU, Stic Urban, M.Hotel and many others to choose from.

The town has had a serious revamp over the past few years, and it’s now one of the most sought-after locations on the white isle.

For dinners out then why not venture to restaurants such as Es Ventall, Sa Capella, Es Nautic, Aragma, Tapas or Rio rooftop? Simply beautiful dining, with exceptional food.

San Antonio also has a busy port. Offering private boat charters daily. As well as group boats (including party and family ones), plus a plethora of fun water sports to enjoy.

Es Nautic – Sân Antonio

San Antonio

BUDGET – LOW

If you’re the opposite end of the spending spectrum then you’re in for a treat, because this beautiful town has it all.

San Antonio has long been known for being relatively priced in terms of accommodation. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case overall in this day and age. With a huge price increase island-wide for a number of businesses (including hotels), the days of being inundated with amazing cheap offers are sadly becoming a thing of the past.

That doesn’t mean ‘San An‘ is unaffordable though. You can still find plenty of spots to rest your party head after a night out, that don’t require you having to take out a second mortgage

If you’re watching the pennies then check out places such as Hostal Rosell Boutique, TarbaHostal Marí, The Red Hotel and many more. Simply have a look on booking.com and set your filters from ‘low-high’.

San Antonio is also home to hundreds of bars that cater to tourists, who are looking for a fun, cheap night out on the town.

From bars such as Rio, Shenanigans, Highlander, Itaca, Linekers, Ibiza Rocks Bar and so many others. You are guaranteed not only a budget-friendly evening out, you’ll also have the best time too. As these bars offer DJs, live music and fun throughout.

Itaca – San Antonio

The famous town has two main clubs, Eden and Es Paradis. Whilst they’re not cheap, they are in a great location if you’re staying in the area. Always just a short stroll from your hotel.

San Antonio also has an abundance of amazing restaurants too. Many of which are suitable for people on a limited spend holiday.

From San An Grill, Sushimi, San An Thai, Es Verro and the list goes on.

You really will be spoilt for choice.

For transport links you have a big taxi rank, as well as the main bus station which has direct links to Ibiza Town, the airport, and many other parts of the island.

It is also the pick up point for the Disco Bus, which will take you directly to the main clubs, for a fraction of the price of a taxi.

Along the harbour you can also catch the water taxi over to San Antonio Bay for just 5€, along with trips over to other local beaches such as Cala Conta.

You also have easy access to Cala Gracio, Cala Gracioneta, Port d’es Torrent and Playa Pinet beaches too. All with clear blue sea and golden sands.

For sunset vibes why not head to Golden Buddha, for a bite to eat or some drinks. Good prices and that same iconic view as the more expensive bars such as Cafe Mambo.

Sushimi – San Antonio

San Antonio has a wonderful mix of things to suit everyone, and the world-famous sunset makes it that bit more magical.

Playa d’en Bossa

Playa d’en Bossa

BUDGET – HIGH

Playa d’en Bossa is the home of the official ‘Best Club in the World’ , and the best beach club that side of the island, Ushuaïa.

Both clubs offer that VIP experience. Along with general entry, if you just want to hit the dance floor without a fuss.

It’s a fantastic place to stay if you’re looking for excellent beaches, world-class entertainment and pre-parties that are in awe of many other venues on the island.

You can literally jump in a cab from the airport and be on Bora Bora (now Playa Soleil) beach within the blink of an eye. Something which can’t be said for San Antonio which is a 25 minute drive away along a motorway.

Playa Soleil – Playa d’en Bossa

One of the best bars along the ‘strip’ is of course Tantra, the main pre-party venue that hosts a range of music talent, including headlining DJs such a Joseph Capriati, who has played for his upcoming sets for his night Metamorphasi at Amnesia.

There’s plenty of others to choose from too, including Murphy’s, Dunes, club SWAG and more.

For beach bars/clubs you’ve got some fabulous options. Including Tanit, Nassau and Playa Soleil, to name a few. With DJs, excellent food and marvellous sea views. It’s the perfect place to treat yourself for lunch, drinks or dinner.

Playa d’en Bossa isn’t known for its bustling restaurant scene. However, there are still some great places to venture to including Ammos Greek (At Ushuaïa), Casa Manolo, The Beachhouse and many others you’ll find along the way.

Playa d’en Bossa

BUDGET – LOW

Situated only 10 minutes from Ibiza Town, and the airport, you have everything you need within close proximity.

This will also come in handy, as the taxi fare will be much lower than if you’re heading into San Antonio. You can also get the bus right outside their airport, which takes around 25 minutes.

Accommodation isn’t cheap here. But that’s hardly surprising considering its location.

Just 10 minutes away by taxi you’ll find Ryan’s. A group of hotels that are highly popular with younger visitors to the island. if you book in advance, then you can get a pretty reasonable deal, and still be in the heart of the action around Ibiza Town.

If you want to stay in the area then check out accommodation to suit your budget via booking.com for more information.

We’d recommend hitting up the bars such a Tantra before heading to the clubs. Just to get you on your merry way, if you’re partial to a drink or two.

The beach at Playa d’en Bossa is one of the best on the island. With clear waters, a long stretch of sand and amazing views. It’s one of the better ways to spend an afternoon, all you need is a blanket, some drinks and your suncream!

If you want to head to any of the other clubs on the island such as Amnesia or Eden, you can get the Disco Bus from the bus stop by Ushuaïa, which stops running at 6am.

That’ll save you around 100€ there and back in a taxi. You’re welcome.

So, who wins?

That’s down to you to decide!
