Rain in Ibiza? Here’s Some Things To Do!

Each year hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to the island of Ibiza to take advantage of the 300 days of glorious sunshine.

We’re well known for our beautiful weather and stunning coastal beaches, with clear blue waters. Perfect afternoons spent relaxing around the pool, or plotted up on the sandy shores. Catching those rays and enjoying warm daily temperatures, is what many seek from a holiday in the Balearics.

There are of course those days that aren’t so fabulous, and with that comes a ton of questions about what you can do to still enjoy your time here.

Fear not though, as we have a whole list of fun, relaxing and educational things you can get up to when the weather isn’t on your side.

Shop til you drop

Ibiza is full of wonderful boutiques and shops to get lost in. Whether you’re a fan of hand-made items or high-street fashion, you’re never far away from bagging the perfect-find here. Head to Ibiza Town for the likes of Mango and Zara, or wander up towards the cobbled streets of Dalt Vila, where you’ll find an array of stunning items. A lot of them from local, artisan sellers and designers. If you’re after an authentic Ibiza experience then why not visit one of the islands numerous markets, including Las Dalias on a Saturday?

There are some real gems to be sought here.

Eat & Drink

There’s plenty of gorgeous restaurants here to choose from. Many which provide a cosy setting for those not-so-sunny days. If you head to the north of the island you’ll find one of our favourite places, The Boat House. Whilst this stylish, nautical-themed spot is located just off the beach, it’s perfect to watch the waves outside from the comfort of your seat. The food is pretty good too!

If you’re staying more towards the south of the island, then why not head to Relish in San Antonio Bay? Here you’ll find a selection of tasty tapas dishes, and a very warm welcome indeed.

Spa Time!

Ibiza is about more than just partying. If you need a bit of R&R, then why not book yourself into one of the many spas available to you here? There’s one to suit all budgets. From the luxurious ‘La Posidonia‘ at the 5 star Hacienda Na Xamena Hotel, located in hills not too far from San Miguel. Or the lovely Stic Urban Hotel Spa in San Antonio.

It’s the perfect chance to relax, unwind and take some well-deserved time-out.

Experience Sluiz

If you’re a fan of the weird, whacky and wonderful, then why not pay a visit to Sluiz in Santa Gertrudis? An Aladdins cave of eclectic fashion and homeware. All inside a very apt circus tent, surrounded by cows suspended from trees. Yes we said that right, and no, they’re not real cows. It’s an experience within an experience. Pick up some truly idiosyncratic items to wear, or place around the house. There’s some not-so whacky bits available as well, which are still too good to turn down. There’s also a cafe inside, which is worth a visit alone for the mind-blowing wall art displays.

Not the cheapest of places to visit, but it’s a must in our opinion.

Get Educated

This beautiful little rock has a very rich and compelling history. From the invasion of ‘The Vandals‘ in 426 A.D and the Carthaginian colonisation in 654 B.C, through to once-local artists such as Vicente Ferrer Guasch. If you’re interested in learning about the who’s, why’s and what’s of Ibiza’s past and culture, then why not take a trip to a museum? There’s a few different ones to choose from, depending on your specific curiosity and taste.

One of those is the ‘Necrópolis cartaginesas en Ibiza‘ in Ibiza Town. An intriguing look at preserved artefacts from by bygone age of both here, and Formentera.

Party!

Not all daytime parties only happen outside. Even the ones that do, relish in the rare feeling of rain during the summer months. The atmosphere can often be even more exciting too, as locals and tourists come together to celebrate the release of humidity from the air. Something which is a bonus for those with frizz-prone locks!

With an abundance of venues to choose from, you’ll always find somewhere to show off your best moves, day or night…whatever the weather!

This should be enough to keep you entertained, until the sun makes an inevitable appearance once again.
