From humble beginnings back in 2013 in Amsterdam, founder Paul Boon created a series of popular restaurants in the Netherlands named‘Van’t Spit’.
His love for hospitality (and chicken) grew over the following years, and with that so did his wings.
Flying away from his mother land and setting up a second home here on the island of Ibiza, La Chickeria was born.
In 2019 founder Paul and his business partners decided to open a new eatery, in the trendy village of Santa Gertrudis.
Promising fresh, local, farm-to-table produce, and family friendly prices. They kept that promise, and have continued to do so until this day.
With a passion for creating mouthwatering, wholesome dishes, the kitchen team designed a menu that they knew would have eager visitors arriving from all parts of the world.
Good food good mood
Unlike a lot of venues here, La Chickeria isn’t ‘fine-dining’ or expensive. Yet the ambience, decor, service and quality of food is of the same high standard (if not better) than many other establishments on the white isle.
The team take time with guests. Happy to talk through the menu, and to have a genuine, un-rushed conversation with you.
They’re not in a hurry to get you out the door after your meal. You’re encouraged to stay and enjoy your afternoon or evening with them. Something which we like to experience here, it’s not all go, go go!
Natural, authentic and welcoming, perfect.
With the chickens being raised organically, they assure you quality and care with their menu.
Using over 30 herbs and spices in their extensive marinading process, to perfect the most outstanding dishes, each and every time.
You can choose from a whole, or half chicken. Plus a range of delicious sides including coleslaw, grilled vegetables or con on the cob, amongst others.
And it’s not only ‘normal’ chicken on the menu either. With chimichurri skirt steak, BBQ spare ribs, chicken burgers, caesar salad and peanut chicken skewers as mains, you’re sure to find something you like.
There’s also a scrumptious, plant-based ‘meatless burger‘ available for vegans too, amongst other options for meat-free diners.
Carnivore, Herbivore and Omnivore friendly
Why not tuck into a dessert of homemade cheesecake, or apple crumble with ice cream? There’s some pretty good but ‘naughty’ afters available.
If you’re a cocktail lover then there’s a good choice to decide from, just ask your server for more information.
Staying towards the south-west of the island? If so then you’re in luck, because they’ve opened a second restaurant in Cala de Bou this year!
Otherwise known as San Antonio Bay, Cala de Bou is an up-and-coming area, with a range of new businesses opening over the last couple of years.
The previous ‘Sol House Hotel’ has now changed to Innside by Meliá. And that’s where you’ll find the brand new La Chickeria.
With an outside pool, airy dining area and modern design, you’ll absolutely love this venue for laid-back lunches.
Unlike Santa Gertrudis, La Chickeria is only open in the day times, from 12pm-5pm.
Make sure you check out one of their two fantastic locations, for good food and drink on the island this summer.
