Ibiza Disco Ticket parties at Defected opening party

The 20th May marked the Defected opening party in Ibiza Town’s hotspot Booom! Being the first main opening party of the season and considering Defected’s cult following since its launch many moons ago we were expecting Booom! to be nicely crowded despite the island still feeling pretty quiet since the tourists are still yet to land and kick off the big opening weekend.

We were not wrong, you could see the huge crowds waiting outside the door half way down the street. Offering free entrance before 2am with wrist-bands was a smart move to move people to the club but we felt for the bouncers and door staff who had to deal with such a huge demand. It’s Defected’s second year in Booom! after leaving Pacha to join the new club in town at the beginning of last season.

Once we entered the swanky club, classic Defected style house anthems blasted from the top quality sound system. The line up for the night included; Guti (live), Noir, Oliver Dollar, Secondcity and Sam Divine. It was a bit of an effort to make our way down to the dance floor but we soon made a space and got our on groove listening to Sam Divine’s set. Divine thrashed out a blend of deep, vocal and balearic beats to a packed out dance floor. A great set from one of the leading ladies in dance music.

The venue is well and truly packed by now and the floor already covered in glitter and confetti as Oliver Dollar takes over the decks. The crowd is full of energy and as the party kicks up a gear the music cuts out and the venue goes into darkness. During the 5 minutes the music was out, the energy and crowd remained lively with people chanting and cheering until the beat started again to a thunderous cheer and applause. The party had re-started.

Nior was up next churning out quality house music to the over excited crowd. The Danish born DJ proved a big hit with most of the dance floor – at this point everyone was raving with their arms in the air. Closing the show was Guti who played live to the Defected audience, many of whom had been there since the doors opened a good few hours ago. As ever with Defected, the music was top notch and the crowd was wild from start to finish.

This year marks 15 years for Defected in Ibiza, a massive coup in an industry that is so competitive and saturated. Year after year they dominate the scene, leaving their fans wanting more and more. We look forward to more nights at Booom!’s flagship night at Defected this season. Bring on the house music!
