Thrill-seeking activities on Ibiza

The island of Ibiza is full of adventure. There’s something for everyone to enjoy here, especially those who love a good adrenaline rush.

Aside from the parties, there is a whole list of things to do. Most of which are great for people all ages.

From thrill seekers looking for heart-racing fun-packed action, to those who get their kicks from their surroundings.

Here are some of our favourite activities here in Ibiza, for the young and young at heart.

Slingshot

First installed in 1997, the famous Slingshot in San Antonio is located in front of clubs Eden and Es Paradis. The 48m-tall frame has been a landmark of the town for quite some time. Upgraded in 2002, the metal ball cage which once surrounded the seats was removed for a ‘freer feeling’. And what a feeling it is. Shooting participants 72 meters into the air, 0-160kph in 1.3 seconds. Woosh! If you’re brave enough to open your eyes, you can see for miles over the island and out to sea. Definitely worth it in our opinion.

Buggies and Quads

There is no better feeling than driving around the island on one of these bad boys. They’re perfect for getting lost somewhere ‘off the beaten track’, and for reaching places that cars may struggle to. Head over to Cala d’Hort, and up to the view point overlooking Es Vedra. Or take a trip to your favourite beach or cove and go for an afternoon swim. The island is literally your oyster, so why not make the most of it?  Unlike some other parts of the world, you do need a full driving licence to hire both vehicles here on the island.

Jet Ski

Whizzing off along the crystal waters of the Mediterranean is always fun, especially on a jet ski. If you have your own nautical licence then you’re free to rent one without a guide. If not, there’s plenty of fantastic tours available all over the island to choose from, including Ibiza Jet Ski in San Antonio. It’s a great way to see the stunning coastline of Ibiza, and explore some secret (plus very beautiful) beaches and coves.

Foiling

If you haven’t heard of foiling before then you’re missing out. Foiling or E-Foiling is similar to surfing, however there is a hydrofoil attached to the bottom of the board instead of a fin. It’s a pretty cool invention which raises you just above the surface of the water. It definitely tests your balancing skills too, trying to avoid falling into the sea isn’t easy. Plus it’s a great workout!

Private Boat Charter

There’s plenty of businesses here offering days out at sea, but one we can personally recommend is Ocean Dreams Ibiza. With boats departing from San Antonio and Ibiza Town daily throughout the season, they’re rated as one of the top companies on the island. Booking your own private charter is such a memorable experience. Touring the coastline of the stunning white isle or Formentera is a must do whilst you’re here. What’s more, if you book with Ocean Dreams Ibiza then your captain, drinks, speakers and snorkelling equipment are all included in the price. Well worth it!

Horse Riding

If you’re into nature and animals then why not spend the afternoon on horseback? There’s something really calming about taking some time away from the busyness of the world for a while. One of the best places to do this is in the north of the island, as it’s surrounded by hectares of woodland, just waiting to be explored. One place which comes recommended is Ibiza Horse Valley in San Juan. A sanctuary for previously abandoned or neglected horses, owners David & Monique have created a space for these beautiful creatures to start their lives over.

See? There’s much more to the island than meets the eye. Time to get planning!
