Authentic Ibiza – where to stay this summer

The island of Ibiza is home to many wonderful towns and villages, all offering something unique and special.

It’s divided up into five municipalities. Ibiza Old Town, San Antonio, Santa Eularia, Sant Josep and Sant Joan.

Only 21 miles long and 12 miles wide, you can easily travel around it all during your stay. And you definitely should, as there’s so many beautiful places to see.

A lot of people visit Ibiza for its world-famous nightlife. Which is understandable, as its home to some of the best clubs on earth.

However, not everyone wants to stay in noisy hotels or resorts whilst they’re here.

There’s nothing quite like partying until the early hours and listening to the best DJs, before heading ‘home’ for some well earned rest.

In this blog we are focusing on some of the more quieter parts of the island. Places where you can lay your weary head after a long night on the dance floor, without being disturbed.

Santa Gertrudis (de Fruitera)

Located in the heart of the island, lays the quaint little village of Santa Gertrudis. A truly charming place, surrounded by natural beauty, wonderful restaurants and local bars. It’s home to the trendy traveller, the yummy mummies and the hipster-chic crowd. With a range of boutique shops, a beautiful 18th century church, art galleries and an agricultural landscape.

It’s the sort of place you’d want to stay to experience the authentic side to the island. It’s also just a 7 minute drive to Bambuddha. A stunning Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant, offering exceptional cuisine and resident DJs throughout the night.

You’re also never too far from a super club with a simple taxi journey, if you fancy a big night out.

San Miguel (Sant Miquel de Balansat)

San Miguel has always been a popular destination for those seeking a quieter pace of life. It has a big beautiful beach, offering a range of exciting water sports, a port where you can rent a boat for the day, an array of eateries, Cuevas Can Marça (a 100.000 year-old pirate cave) and much more.

Located just 25 minutes away from Las Dalias Hippy Market, it’s not too far if you want to take in ‘the real Ibiza’.

If you fancy a party then nightclub Akasha is situated withi the grounds of Las Dalias, and has hosted some seriously legendary DJs since they opened, including Sven Väth!

Las Salinas (Ses Salines)

Beautiful and serine. Home to the migrating flamingos, amazing sunsets, salt planes and the sound of nature.

Las Salinas is a magical spot on the southern tip on the island, just a 10 minute drive from the airport.

You’re far enough away from the hectic nightlife, yet only a matter of minutes away by car from , Ushuaïa and Playa d’en Bossa beach. The perfect location if you don’t want to travel too far for a memorable night out.

The beach is simply stunning, with white sandy shores and turquoise blue waters.

The famous Sa Trinxa beach club is just on your doorstep, offering daytime parties and fabulous, fresh food. Amongst other great venues.

Sant Josep (San José)

A lovely little village on the west-coast of the island.

Just a short ride away from both San Antonio, and Ibiza Town, it’s a great choice for those wanting the best of both worlds.

Offering a relaxing stay for the discerning traveller, with plenty to do!

From browsing around the artisan market stalls, to dining alfresco in the sunshine.

There’s local shops and boutiques, traditional restaurants and aesthetically pleasing, white-washed architecture to admire.

A great place to spend lazy days and submerse yourself in local-life after dark.

Santa Eulalia (Santa Eulària des Riu)

If you’re a foodie then this is the place to be.

Famous for its ‘restaurant street‘, offering world-cuisine at a number of seriously good eateries.

It boasts a 300m golden beach, clear waters and a promenade with various restaurants and bars.

The town is lively for all the right reasons, and very family oriented.

It’s also a very beautiful part of the island, with an illuminated 16th century church (Puig de Missa) on the hilltop by night.

Santa Eulalia is also very close (7 minutes) to both Las Dalias and Punta Arabí hippy markets.

Plus don’t forget nearby Akasha, if you feel some moves coming on and want to stay local.

At the centre of everything you want and need.

Explore the cobbled streets, and head up to the Santa Maria de la Neu cathedral,  at the top of Dalt Vila.

Take in the glorious views overlooking the ocean, explore the local shops, and dine on one of the many terraces, whilst you watch the world go by.

The Old Town of Ibiza is a wonderful place to stay if you want to relish in the history of the island.

It’s also close to a world of excitement by night.

Including Club Chinois, only 10 minutes way by taxi, or a lovely 30 minute stroll along the twinkling harbour.

All of the places mentioned are within easy reach to the superclubs by taxi.
